SAFFORD — Safford’s Downtown will be a hotbed of activity this weekend.
Things start Friday at 4 p.m., with the inaugural Main Street Rally, sponsored by Retrograde Brewery and BBQ.
The motorcycle event takes place on 5th Avenue, between Main and 7th streets, and will feature live music, bike shows and building exhibitions, industry vendors and more. The rally will stay open until 10 p.m.
Saturday starts with the opening of the Market on Main at 9 a.m.
Located in the parking lot on the northwest corner of Main Street at 6th Avenue, the event brings food and retail vendors to the Downtown area.
Market on Main will remain open until 8 p.m.
The annual St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church’s Cinco de Mayo Parade down Main Street will start at 10 a.m. and entrants can win $100 in three categories:
- Most entertaining
- Most creative
- Best decorated
At 11 a.m., the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta begins on the St. Rose of Lima Church campus, with food, music games and more.
Also, right after the parade, the Main Street Rally resumes and will run until 10 p.m.
Things wrap with the Cinco de Mayo Dance, presented by the Knights of Columbus and Safford Builder’s Supply/Ace Hardware, at the St. Rose of Lima Volunteer Hall.
Performing will be the Suavecito Band of Tucson, and the dance will run 7-11 p.m. Tickets are $20 each and there will be a beer garden.
