SAFFORD — The Gila Watershed Partnership invites all members of the public to attend the next First Friday Volunteer Event and Social, March 6.

The activity is a tour of GWP’s Discovery Park campus home, where participants can look in on the day-to-day activities of a full-time native plants greenhouse, the pollinator garden and the seed orchard.

To assist with grant deliverables, attendees will also participate in seed cleaning at the Ranch House.

Meet at the Gila Native Plants Nursery at Discovery Park Campus of EAC from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

RSVP to info@gwpaz.org. Lunch will be provided, so please include any dietary restrictions.

First Friday Volunteer Socials started in 2021 as a way to introduce new volunteers to the organization, and to provide a way for GWP volunteers to meet, chat, and do a simple but worthwhile task.

On the first Friday of every month, volunteers and anyone interested in the organization’s work at the Gila Native Plant Nursery will be invited to an event with the opportunity to get to know each other and the staff of GWP. Activities might include cleaning seeds to prepare them for planting, watching presentations about native plants and the watershed, going on field trips to the areas being restored and to other places in the Gila Valley to plant native plants, washing pots, and weeding in the pollinator garden.
