SAFFORD — the public is invited to join Gila Watershed Partnership on Friday, Oct. 31, and Saturday, Nov. 1, for the Fall Native Plants Sale at the Gila Native Plants Nursery at Discovery Park Campus.

The sale will run Friday from 9 am to 3 pm and Saturday from 9 am to noon.

GWP will once again host Creepy Critters on Halloween Day. Children can learn about the wonderful — if sometimes scary — creatures that are important to the ecosystem. There will be both a touch library and live animals during the Friday event.

Children will learn about the native plants that help support the creepy critters, and how they can be more careful and mindful about the natural world.

Children in costume either day will get candy, and parents and caregivers also get 10 percent off every purchase at the plant sale. The special this sale is kidneywood, a hardy and beautiful shrub-like tree that has much in common with mesquite but without the thorns. Five-gallon kidneywoods are on sale for $25, regularly $40.

For more information on the plants available, go to gwpaz.org/nursery and click on the Shop Now Online link.

The Fall Native Plants Sale is one of GWP’s major fund-raisers each year.
