SAFFORD — United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties announced its Holiday Giving and regular monthly grant recipients for October on Monday, and more than $76,000 is being disbursed for holiday projects and programs across the two counties.
The Holiday Giving grants total $76,376.61 for nine programs:
- $10,000 — Duncan Food Bank for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets
- $10,000 — Gospel Truth Church for Project Luke
- $10,000 — Morenci Lions Club for the Greenlee County Christmas Project
- $10,000 — Our Neighbors Farm & Pantry for low-income senior food boxes
- $10,000 — St. Vincent de Paul for holiday food cards
- $9,005 — CHAP Ministries for senior gift bags
- $8,100 — Clifton Food Bank for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets
- $5,291.61 — Gila Valley Samaritan Home for Thanksgiving and Christmas backpacks
- $4,000 — Love Outreach Ministry for single mothers and grandparents dinner and Christmas help
The regular monthly grants total $49,441.45 across four areas — education, health, economic stability and event sponsorships.
Education
- $5,000 — Thatcher High School for the piano lab
- $4,744 — Gila Valley Chorale for the Community Children’s Choir
- $4,092.45 — Pima Elementary School for the Instrument and Technology Integration program
- $2,500 — Thatcher High School for the On to College initiative
- $2,295.72 — Pima Elementary School for fidget tools and flexible seating
Health
- $5,000 — Pima High School for PE equipment upgrades
- $4,559 — Our Neighbors Farm & Pantry for a Mini Split for the Pantry building
- $3,500 — Foreign Angels Charities for Eyeglass Recycling program equipment
- $2,500 — Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition for the Too Good for Drugs curriculum
- $2,000 — Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition for Greenlee program storage
- $1,000 — AYSO for the U13 Girls Gila Valley Blitz
- $1,000 — AYSO for the U12 Boys Gila Valley Ninjas
Economic stability
- $5,000 — Graham County Citizens Alliance for the Wreaths Across America program

- $5,000 — Eastern Arizona College for the EAC High School Holiday Tournament
- $1,250.28 — MGRMC for the Light the Hospital campaign
The United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties makes grants to nonprofit, educational and governmental organizations thanks to donations from Freeport-McMoRan Foundation and Freeport employees; employees of the City of Safford, Town of Thatcher and Graham County; and individual donors.
