BYLAS — Containment efforts have been successful and the Albuquerque Zone Incident Management team is handing management of the Goodwin fire back to the San Carlos Apache Type 4 team.
The fire, about 12 miles southwest of Bylas and 12 miles northeast of Klondyke, is at 1,059 acres and 45-percent containment.
Meanwhile, the Bronco fire, about 30 miles northeast of San Carlos, is at 18,041 acres and containment has grown to 66 percent.
Last week, the San Carlos Apache Tribe implemented Stage 2 fire restrictions on the reservation.
Under the Stage 2 fire restrictions, camping and campfires are prohibited, smoking is only allowed in an enclosed building or vehicle, and Sunrise Dances and other large gatherings are not allowed in forested areas.
