Safford City Council to consider Utility and Service Rate Increases

The Safford City Council will consider a vote of intent to move forward with proposed utility and service rate increases during the regularly scheduled City Council meeting on Monday, August 11, 2025.

This vote does not adopt or implement any rate increases. It is solely to determine whether to proceed with the proposed rates outlined in the Utility and Service Rate Study, which has been previously posted and made available for public review.

If the Council votes to move forward, the next steps will include:

  • A public hearing, tentatively scheduled for Monday, October 13, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., and
  • A final vote for approval or disapproval, tentatively scheduled for Monday, October 27, 2025.

The Utility and Service Rate Study, including proposed 5-year rate adjustments and detailed cashflows, is available for review online at www.cityofsafford.us or in person at the City Clerk’s Office during regular business hours. Click here for the Notice of Intent & Appendix A.
