THATCHER — Hundreds of families received a head start on supplies for the coming school year, courtesy of the Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition.

The halls were packed in the AP building on the campus of Eastern Arizona College, with local social service organizations sharing information and free school supplies during Saturday’s Back to School Resource Fair.

In addition to school supplies, parents were given information on obtain benefits for their children, having their children’s vision checked and even how to get the children’s vaccination records digitally.

Kathy Grimes, executive director for the Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition, said work will start soon on planning for next year.

“In about a week we’ll have a meeting with all the vendors that were here, and that’s when we put our heads together; what could we have done better . . . what can we add next year,” Grimes said.
