SAFFORD — Arizona Department of Public Safety reports two people were injured in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 191 south of Safford Thursday.
The incident occurred at mile post 108 at 5:25 a.m.
Preliminary information indicates the crash occurred because a vehicle attempted to overtake another on a two-lane stretch of the roadway.
In assisting at the scene, Graham County Sheriff’s deputies reported one person required extraction from a vehicle and suffered a leg injury. The other person appeared to have suffered a head injury.
The two injured parties were transported to MGRMC and the roadway was re-opened to traffic at 8:22 a.m.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
