SAFFORD — Firefighting efforts are paying off and the Jacobson fire appears to be coming under control.
According to the latest update issued by the Coronado National Forest, the fire near Turkey Flat on Mount Graham is at 8 acres and 44-percent containment.
Crews have entered the containment phase, ensuring the fire does not break through control features.
Only two areas remain off-limits to the public — Turkey Flat Trail No. 330 and Ladybug Trail No. 329. All other areas have been re-opened to public access.
The fire was first reported at 9:35 p.m. Monday, May 26. Cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
