Argument over women in sports leads to hole in a door

GRAHAM COUNTY — Graham County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on Ocotillo Street when a special needs man and his father got into an altercation over women’s sports.

The father said the two began arguing over women in combat sports and he told his son to move out. That’s when the son kicked a hole in a bedroom door and threatened to fight with law enforcement officers.

The son said they did argue, but he left the residence as instructed by his father. After a while he tried to get back in to get something to drink, but was initially blocked by his father. Eventually inside, he said he kicked the door out of frustration as he entered his own bedroom. He said he was upset his father called law enforcement, but did not want to fight officers.

The father then confirmed his son’s story, and said his son hadn’t taken his medication for the day.

Deputies instructed the son to remain calm, take his medication, and the deputies stayed in the area in case another incident occurred, which did not happen.
