SAFFORD — Visitation to Roper Lake and Dankworth Pond State Parks was up in February.

That’s according to data released Wednesday by the Arizona Office of Tourism.

There were 5,612 visits to Roper and Dankworth in February, up 6.4 percent from February 2024.

Roper and Dankworth are also doing well year-to-date, with 10,251 visits which is up 5.4 percent over 2024.

Only nine of Arizona’s 29 state parks saw a decline in attendance in February; however, the two of the most popular destinations — Kartchner Caverns and Lake Havasu State Park — saw significant declines which brought the month’s visitorship to all parks down 1.5 percent from the same time last year.

It should be noted that construction projects to improve both Kartchner and Havasu are underway, which could be causing the dip in visitor totals.

Arizona Office of Tourism also released the monthly lodging report, and occupancy at hotels, motels and other lodging statewide was at 72.5 percent in February.

Occupancy year-to-date is at 66 percent.
