SAFFORD — Parents and caregivers of pre-school aged children are invited to a free concert Thursday morning at the David M. Player Center for the Arts, courtesy of the Safford City-Graham County Library and First Things First.
“We’re so excited to bring in artist Jazzy Ash, with her New Orleans jazz flair and style,” said Elizabeth Henley, Early Literacy coordinator for Safford Library.
The show starts at 10 a.m. and doors open at 9:30 a.m. Admission is free and seating is first come, first served.
Jazzy Ash is Ashli St. Armant, with her band, the Leaping Lizards. She’s recorded seven albums for young listeners and written three books in the Viva Durant Mystery series.
In addition to Thursday’s public performance, this week Jazzy Ash is performing for kindergarteners through second graders in Graham County in the morning, as well as traveling to Duncan and Morenci for concerts at those locations in the afternoon.
After Thursday’s public concert, in a joint collaboration between the Library and the Graham County School Superintendent’s Office, she will conduct a workshop for preschool through second-grade teachers on using ukulele in classroom.
