THATCHER, Ariz. — No. 23 Eastern Arizona College extended its winning streak to six games with an 86-75 victory over Cochise College on Wednesday night at Guitteau Gymnasium. The Gila Monsters improved to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) play.
Tarrance Warren led the way for Eastern Arizona, pouring in a game-high 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting, including four 3-pointers. He also added five assists. Kaden Ericksen contributed 22 points and five rebounds as the Gila Monsters shot a blistering 53.2% from the field and 39.1% from beyond the arc.
Eastern Arizona built a 43-31 halftime lead behind Ericksen’s early scoring and timely defense. Cochise (6-3, 0-1 ACCAC) battled back in the second half, narrowing the gap to six points behind Ben Henderson’s team-high 19 points and Mark Clegg Jr.’s 17. Despite their efforts, the Apaches were undone by missed free throws, hitting just 41.7% (5-of-12) from the line.
The Gila Monsters’ bench provided a spark, with Kahu Treacher and Felix Smedjeback combining for 11 points and critical plays on both ends of the floor. Eastern Arizona’s ability to share the ball—posting 21 assists on 33 made field goals—was a decisive factor.
Eastern Arizona will look to continue its winning ways on Saturday when it travels to Central Arizona for another pivotal ACCAC showdown.
