SAFFORD — An altercation is believed to have escalated into an attempted murder.
According to a release issued by Graham County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred Wednesday, Sept. 25, at around 10:56 p.m. A caller said he had been shot at by a man he identified as “Jeremy,” and that the suspect was still in the area.
Deputies found the suspect, Identified as Jeremy Bowman, 39, in a nearby ditch.
The victim, who was bloody from injuries to the head, torso and arms, said those injuries were caused by Bowman before Bowman fired a shot, hitting the victim’s residence. A search of the residence turned up bullet holes and a .22 revolver.
A female witness said she heard Bowman threaten to “kill” the victim, and Bowman had assaulted her by taking her phone.
After being taken into custody, Bowman was transported to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center for treatment of a swollen hand, then he was transported to Graham County Jail, where he was booked on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, endangerment and other felony and misdemeanor charges related to the incident.
Bowman is currently being held on $500,000 bond.
