BISBEE — The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office announced Republican candidate for president Donald Trump is scheduled to visit the county this week.

According to a press release, Trump will fly in to Sierra Vista Airport — which will be closed to the public — at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22. From there, a motorcade will take Trump to an undisclosed section of the Arizona-Mexico border for a “briefing.”

The Sheriff’s Office said the activity at the border will be closed to the public and the media at the request of the Trump campaign; however, Sheriff Mark Dannels said he will speak with the candidate.

“We will talk to whoever will listen regarding our border issues,” Dannels said in the press release.

After the briefing, Trump is scheduled to motorcade back to Sierra Vista Airport and fly to other locations in Arizona, according to the press release. The only Arizona activity listed on the Trump campaign website is a rally Friday, Aug. 23, at 4 p.m., at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale.
