SAFFORD — The Graham County Board of Supervisors want to help even more people use a fairgrounds asset.
On Monday, the board unanimously approved a five-year extension to a contract with Arizona Game and Fish to stock the fairgrounds ponds.
“I’m amazed how many people come out there and fish at our ponds,” said Supervisor John Howard. “I don’t think the community realizes how many people use those ponds out there.”
Trey Andrews, Graham County Parks Director, said Arizona Game and Fish supports the county’s Community Fishing Program.
“Cold weather, we get rainbow trout; warm weather we get catfish, bluegill and all the like,” Andrews said.
The extension runs until 2029.
