SAFFORD — Five projects and one event received funding from the United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties in June.

That’s according to data released by United Way Tuesday.

The funding all stayed in Graham County in June, with Our Neighbor’s Farm and Pantry receiving two grants — $2,390.87 for a tilapia fish pond and $4,735.50 for the Summer Youth Work Program.

Other grant recipients included:

  • $5,000 to Matheson Music Foundation for a mobile marketing and performance kit
  • $4,873.52 to Solomon Elementary School for an air purification system
  • $2,499 to Gila Valley Samaritan Home for a Cyclone evaporative cooler

United Way also funded one sponsorship in June — $5,000 to Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition for the upcoming Back-to-School Resource Fair.

“I also want to thank our donors, because we everything we do is because of Freeport, the Freeport employees, City of Safford, and I’m going to give a shout-out to our new employee givers, Graham County,” said Denise Benton, executive director for United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties.
