George Lynn Adams passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the age of 83 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Lynn passed in the presence of his eternal companion Brenda (Hoopes) Adams. Lynn and Brenda were sealed in the Mesa, Arizona temple on August 6, 1965. Lynn was cared for in his final years by his loving children, grandchildren, and devoted wife Brenda. Lynn was born in Phoenix, Arizona on June 13, 1940. He was the first of 8 children born to Frank Garland Adams and Pauline Naomi (McCormack) Adams. Lynn grew up in a loving family where he blessed the lives of so many.
In Lynn’s early years his family lived in Mexico. There he and his siblings were loved and taught at home by their mother. Later the family moved to Tempe and Lynn attended Tempe High where he excelled as an athlete in football and track. He graduated in 1958. Lynn served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Uruguay from 1960-1962. Shortly after returning from his mission Lynn’s father Frank, who was Captain of the Tempe Police Department, was killed in an automobile accident. Lynn was hired by the police department to support his mother and siblings.
Later Lynn attended college at Arizona State University where he graduated with a degree in Secondary Education. It was there he met the love of his life, Brenda Hoopes. Lynn was a loving son, brother, husband and father and worked tirelessly to provide for his extended and immediate family. Lynn loved his 12 grandchildren and built a special relationship with each of them.
After his employment with the police department, he owned and operated a successful men’s clothing store “Adams for Men”. He was also a restaurant manager of Pete’s Fish & Chips.
Lynn was an avid collector of WWII memorabilia and loved showing his collection and sharing his knowledge and passion on the subject with anyone who would listen.
Lynn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in the church in many capacities including: Full Time Missionary, Ward Clerk, Stake Missionary, Youth Sunday School Teacher, and many more.
He is survived by: his wife, Brenda (Hoopes) Adams; his children, George Glen (Shannon) Adams, Charles Franklin (Sue) Adams, Stewart Nat (Krisann) Adams, and Sarah Lynn Adams. He is also survived by: 12 grandchildren, Josy, Sage, Savannah, Dempsey, Eli, CJ, Cameron, Samuel, Wesley, Dane, Sidney and Colby; and 10 great-grandchildren. They are his legacy. He is also survived by: 3 brothers, Claude Wiff (Kathy) Adams, Stewart Fay (Judy) Adams, Norman Lash (Karen) Adams; and 2 sisters, Annette Adams and Jeannette (Marc) Lemieux.
He is preceded in death by: his father, Frank Garland Adams; and his mother, Pauline Naomi (McCormack) Adams; and his brothers, Gary Wayne Adams and Martel Corley Adams.

A viewing for Lynn will be conducted on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., in the Corona ward chapel, 1111 E. Knox Road, Tempe, AZ, 85284.
Graveside services for Lynn will be conducted at the Thatcher Cemetery on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 12:00 p.m.
