THATCHER — Thatcher High School Principal Ryan Conrad and Athletic Director James Hicklin unveiled the school’s plans for fans in the stands for fall athletic events.

In the gym for Volleyball they will allow 25% capacity, which is 300 people. Everyone in the gym will be required to wear a mask, except players, and will be asked to sit with only those that you live with. There will also be a new entry and exit plan. All fans will enter the usual way but the exit will be at the opposite end of the gym with all one way traffic.

Football will be much of the same. 25% percent capacity at John Mickelson Stadium at Eastern Arizona College will be 750. Fans will be allowed to bring their own lawn chairs to sit in the grass areas spaced out six feet apart. Masks are required for everyone but players.

The Thatcher band will be in their own bleacher section that will be provided by Thatcher High School.

When asked about visiting team fans Principal Conrad said, “Our athletic department will work with the visiting teams to see how they will travel so we can allocate adequate space for their parents and fans

Conrad continued, “Our local volleyball games with Safford, Snowflake and Pima will potentially present some challenges but we are confident that effective communication with the admin at the visiting schools will allow us to accommodate parents and fans for both teams.”

Thatcher Volleyball will host Snowflake on September 22nd and Pima on the 24th. Football will open at home against Snowflake on October 9th.
