93 percent of hospitalized due to coronavirus not vaccinated

SAFFORD — The average daily number of patients hospitalized due to COVID-19 has remained the same over the past seven days, but the percent of those hospitalized are unvaccinated dropped slightly.

That’s according to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center, which reports an average daily count of hospitalized patients due to coronavirus staying at nine. However the percentage of those hospitalized being unvaccinated dropped from 94.64 percent as of Sept. 29, to 93.75 percent as of Oct. 6.

Meanwhile Graham County Health Department reported a jump in the number of coronavirus-related deaths due to reconciliation. Graham County is now at 109 total deaths since the start of the pandemic, 0.3 percent of the county’s population.

On Thursday, the Health Department reported 54 new cases, bringing October’s total thus far to 124 and 7,098 since the start of the pandemic, which is 18.3 percent of the county’s population.

Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center, in partnership with the United Way of Greenlee Counties, announced it is offering free drive-up COVID-19 testing at the hospital’s Copper Mountain Clinic.

Free drive-up testing will take place Monday through Friday, from 1-7 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Graham County continues to offer free vaccinations for anyone over the age of 12 at the vaccination clinic on Main Street at Safford.
