THATCHER —8th Street in Thatcher will be closed next week as part of the road widening project.
8th Street will be closed from 20th Avenue to 1st Avenue starting Monday, Jan. 27. The closure will run until Feb. 1
In addition, Bauer Avenue will be closed at the intersection of 8th Street starting Monday, Jan. 27. The closure of the intersection will run through Monday, Feb. 10.
Town officials said motorists should expect delays on 8th Street over the next six months due to the widening project, so plan for extra travel time or use an alternate route.
The project is to widen 8th Street between 20th and 1st avenues to three lanes, with curbs and sidewalks on both sides of the street. The work is expected to cost in excess of $4.7 million, with the state of Arizona contributing $4.5 million.
