SAFFORD — Education was the big winner when it came to grant funding from the United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties in April.
On Friday, the local United Way announced its regular monthly grant recipients for the month, and a total of $40,671.82 was distributed.
Recipients include:
Education
- $5,000 — Greenlee County School Superintendent’s Office for math staff development programming
- $4,828 — Safford Unified School District for high school band equipment upgrades
- $4,400 — Morenci Unified School District for the proactive coaching program
- $3,113.95 — Fairbanks Middle School for whiteboard tables and chairs
- $2,252.50 — Morenci High School for Mariachi program equipment
- $980.16 — Metcalf Elementary School for third grade math stacker manipulatives
Health
- $5,000 — Fairbanks Middle School for an enhanced recess area
- $4,745 — Dan Hinton Accommodation School for vision screening equipment
- $4,409.97 — Our Neighbor’s Farm and Pantry for a Johnny Paperpot transplanter
- $953.20 — Gila Valley Samaritan Home for the water distribution project
Economic Stability
- $4,989.04 — Eastern Arizona College for the YEET program
The United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties makes grants to nonprofit, educational and governmental organizations thanks to donations from Freeport-McMoRan Foundation and Freeport employees; employees of the City of Safford, Town of Thatcher and Graham County; and individual donors.
