450 new cases at midpoint of December in Graham County

SAFFORD — On Tuesday, the Gila Valley experienced the fewest number of coronavirus cases in a single day in more than a month.

Graham County Health Department reported 10 new cases Tuesday. The last time there were fewer than 10 cases was seven on Nov. 9.

Seven of the new cases were located in the Safford area and three in Pima. Four of the cases involved persons between the ages of 20 and 44, three were in those under 20 years old, two involved those 45-54 and one involved a person over the age of 65.

December has seen 450 new cases thus far and the case count remains about 7 percent ahead of the same time in November.

Graham County’s total is at 2,665, with 1,015 cases considered active and 41 deaths.

Greenlee County

Greenlee County is now up to 96 new cases of COVID-19 in December.

Greenlee County Health Department reported six new cases Monday evening.

The new case count for December in Greenlee County is up 256 percent from the same time in November, when there were 27 new cases through the 14th of the month.

Greenlee County’s total is now at 342, with 151 cases considered active and three deaths.
