26 new COVID-19 cases in Graham County

SAFFORD — Tuesday was another day of new COVID-19 cases in the double digits in the Gila Valley.

Graham County Health Department reported 26 new cases, the eighth time this month the number of new cases has been 10 or more in a single day.

Eleven of the new cases are in the Safford area, seven on the San Carlos Apache Reservation, six in Thatcher and two in Pima.

The younger age groups continue to be the groups seeing the most cases, with 14 of Tuesday’s new cases in the 20-44 years old age group and seven in the 20 and younger age group.

Graham County’s total is at 1,467, with 539 of the cases considered active and 31 deaths. Nine of those active cases are currently hospitalized at Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center. Hospital officials said the facility continues to have capacity when it comes to ventilators and intensive care unit bed space.

Greenlee County Health Department announced six new cases late Monday evening.

The new cases bring Greenlee County’s total to 122, with 34 of the cases considered active and two deaths.
