SAFFORD — A family tradition returns to the Gila Valley this weekend.

The 25th Safford Harvest Festival takes place on the lawn in front of Safford City Hall this Saturday, rounding out a full day of fun for the whole family.

“Hoping to have a lot community resources out there available on Main Street, so the people can come by and see what the community is doing with the businesses, organizations and groups,” said Mick Ruiz, administrative events liaison for the City of Safford, “and, of course, our contests and prizes for kids and adults.”

Free family-friendly activities during the day include pumpkin carving, costume contest, pumpkin rolling and a cornhole tournament for the kids. There will also be performances by Gila Valley All-Star Cheer, Extreme Martial Arts and Gila Valley Chorale.

In the evening, there will be pumpkin carving, a costume contest and a cornhole tournament for adults, plus stein carrying and stein holding contests. The Oktoberfest Beer Garden will open at 3 p.m. and live music and dancing will close out the evening.

Harvest Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and all proceeds will be contributed to the City of Safford Employees United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties Campaign.
