The AIA published the 2024 1A State Basketball brackets over the weekend and three area teams will be in action this week.
The Fort Thomas Lady Apaches secured the #3 seed in the bracket and will host #14 Patagonia on Tuesday, February 6th at 5pm. Fort Thomas ended the regular season with a 21-10 record and were 8-2 in the Copper Region. They fell in the Super Regional final to Joseph City, 49-45, on Saturday.
Patagonia finished with a 10-9 regular season record and were 3-4 in the Tucson Southeast Region. The Lobos won their last 4 games of the season to qualify for the playoffs. This game will be broadcast live on KATO 1230 AM in the Gila Valley and available online anywhere by clicking here.
The Duncan Lady Wildkats are the #9 seed and will travel to take on #8 Salome on Tuesday, February 6th at 7pm. Duncan is 19-7 on the season and finished 2nd in the Tucson Southeast Region with a 6-3 record.
Salome is 23-6 this season and are on a 13-game winning streak, including going 7-0 and winning the West Region.
On Wednesday, February 7th at 7pm the #5 Fort Thomas Apaches will host #12 BASIS Flagstaff in the opening round. Fort Thomas is 22-7 this season, including a perfect 10-0 in the Copper Region. They are coming off a Super Regional championship over Cicero Prep on Saturday.
The BASIS Yeti finished the season 19-6 and won the North Region with an 8-1 record.
