SAFFORD — The City of Safford announced that parents and students driving to Ruth Powel l and Safford High School should have no trouble once school starts.

The city announced that 14th Avenue will open to traffic Wednesday, Aug. 4, the same day that Safford schools open for the 2021-22 school year.

However, while the road will be open, there will still be construction work ongoing, so there may some traffic delays and drivers should leave early to ensure students are in the classroom on time.

Drivers are asked to obey all construction signs and use caution through the project area.

The $1.4 million project involves the demolition and reconstruction of 14th Avenue from Relation Street to the Stone Willow Way-Crimson Canyon Drive intersection, and was started immediately following the end of the 2020-21 school year.
