Dorothy Bernice Johnston

Dorothy Bernice Johnston was born of Jay and Marjorie Sue Nelson on June 2, 1939, and entered into life eternal on Monday, September 30, 2019. She was 80.

Dorothy dedicated her life to children. She raised four wonderful children who love her and will miss her dearly. She was a 2nd grade teacher in 1969, in a two-room school in Roosevelt, Arizona.

Dorothy welcomed foster children into her home and taught many in her church. She was a leader and a teacher to a lot of children in the Gila County 4-H program and was recognized at the state level for her 35 years of service. She also taught the senior citizens for 15 years in Globe, Miami and Roosevelt as a quilt and craft instructor.

She is preceded in death by: her husband, LaVon; and her parents, Jay and Marjorie Sue Nelson.

Dorothy is survived by: her four children, Max (Karen) Johnston, Donetta (Greg) Loya, Barbara (Bryan) Eastin and Susan Johnston; her 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was the eldest of 7 children and is survived by her five brothers, Ron, Paul, Bob, Philip and Don; and her one sister, Glenna.

We love and miss you and we know we will see you again. “Till we meet again.”

Graveside services for Dorothy will be conducted Saturday, October 5, 2019, at 4:00 p.m., in the Hubbard Cemetery.
