THATCHER —The next step in development of Red Lamp Plaza took place Monday, when the Thatcher Town Council voted unanimously to approve a $35,250 contract with Logan Simpson for landscape architectural services.

Logan Simpson is now responsible to design the area’s hardscape — the area between the buildings and the curbs and gutters — as well as landscaping features.

The plan calls for multiple green areas in the 4.4-acre development. Those green areas can be used for outdoor gatherings, open‐air events, formal promenades and pedestrian plazas.

The contract only calls for design with examples of materials that can be used. Actual construction will be performed by the town’s Public Works Department.

In late June, the Town Council approved the sale of the first parcel of land in Red Lamp to American Southwest Credit Union, 0.56 acres for $120,000.

The Red Lamp Plaza conceptual plan calls for multiple multi-story buildings covering about 85,000 square feet, which will include retail, offices, restaurants and residential.
