A person of interest in a June 23 homicide, Chezerae Arrellin, Jr. was arrested and booked into the Yuma County jail on a Graham County Superior Court warrant unrelated to the homicide. He is currently awaiting extradition, which is estimated to be sometime this week.
Safford police responded to 326 S 8th Avenue on the night of June 23, 2024 in reference to shots fired. Upon arrival officers were advised a victim had been shot. Officers located the victim, identified as Adam Avalos of Safford, deceased in the area of the residence.
The homicide investigation is still ongoing and no official charges regarding the homicide have been filed.
