Applications to fill the vacant position on the Safford City Council are now available in the City Clerk’s office or on the City Website. The Council will be accepting applications from interested persons until Monday, February 26, 2024, by 6 p.m. Potential appointees will be interviewed at a Special Council Meeting on a date to be determined by Council. Council will also select a Regular Council Meeting for when the selected candidate will be officially sworn in. The appointed candidate’s term in office would begin when sworn in and expire in December 2024. The prerequisites for interested applicants are:
- You must be eighteen years of age at the time of appointment.
- You must be a registered voter in the State of Arizona living within city limits.
- You must have resided in Safford City Limits for at least one year preceding the appointment date.
- You must also be able to read, write, and speak English.
