SAFFORD — The new Safford Police station will officially open Wednesday.
“We’re going to do a ribbon-cutting — a short ceremony starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 28 — hopefully very short. We’ll see how we can do that, and get out of the heat and get in the building. And just do tours from 8-11 a.m. for anybody,” said Safford Police Chief Glen Orr.
The new station is located on the land that formerly housed the Graham County Sheriff’s Office and adult detention center.
The new facility is about 6,000 square-feet and includes: a training room, squad room, lockers, showers and employee restrooms, patrol report room, interview room, holding/processing area, offices, patrol sergeants’ station, public waiting area, records’ storage room, kitchen/break room and suspect restroom.
The former Safford Police station, located next to the new facility, will house evidence storage and investigators’ offices.
