Graham County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a man laying by the road near SR 366 just after midnight on Sunday. When deputies arrived, they found the man laying on the ground in the area described. He was conscious but had a swollen lump on his right brow and was bleeding. He also had an injury to his side and was complaining of leg pain.
An attempt was made to contact the owner of nearby Mount Graham Market to see if camera footage could reveal what happened to the man – whether it was an assault or if the man had been struck by a vehicle. Attempts to make contact were unsuccessful.
The man said that he did not remember what happened to him. He said that he had been at the Hideaway Bar and had taken a taxi, but remembered nothing after that. He declined any law enforcement or EMS involvement and refused to go to the hospital. He was given a ride home by a deputy at the scene.
