Local First Arizona helping Duncan prioritize needs, wants

DUNCAN — There’s still time for Duncan residents to share what amenities they’d like to see in town.

Local First Arizona Program Manager Victoria Grijalva Ochoa said Local First is asking for public input on what are the priorities for a community facility.

“Whether that’d be a senior center, a youth center, (or) some sort of a multi-purpose recreation center where folks can actually exercise or folks find resources,” Grijalva Ochoa said. “Maybe it’s about being able to gather and not having to pay a pretty large fee to do that.”

Once that data is collected, Local First Arizona will assist in completing an application to secure funding for a major project, whether it’s building a new facility or renovating an existing space.

Ochoa said Local First is gathering information through the end of June, and surveys can be picked up at Town Hall and the library. In September, there will be a community meeting on the findings, as well as completion of the application to try and secure federal funding.

Those unable to obtain a survey can share their thoughts via e-mail at Victoria@localfirstaz.com.
