SAFFORD — The Graham County Health Department announced two new support groups for those who have lost loved ones.

The Infant Loss Grief Group will for the first time in the Health Department lobby Thursday, April 18, at 6 p.m. It’s for those who have lost a child during pregnancy, during birth or up to 2 years old.

“Depending on when the child is lost, it’s sometimes not acknowledged very much,” said Jennifer Labrum, Mental Health coordinator for the Health Department. “If it’s what is termed a miscarriage, or even a still birth, sometimes those parents don’t feel like they really get to properly grieve, because society feels uncomfortable acknowledging that death as a true death and loss.”

The Suicide and Overdose Loss Grief Group, for those who have lost someone to overdose or suicide, will meet for the first time Thursday, April 25, at 6 p.m., in the Health Department lobby.

To register for either group, go to the Graham County Health Department’s Facebook page.
