THATCHER — Those looking to take their business to the next level, and those wanting to start something new, get their first chance at success Wednesday.

The Small Business Development Center at Eastern Arizona College is hosting the first of two workshops for participants in this year’s Moonshot competition.

The workshop, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in Room No. 111 in EAC’s Academic Programs Building, is for assistance in preparing and perfecting participants’ five-minute presentation that will be delivered at the Moonshot Pioneer Pitch on July 12.

“They’re there to support and help the entrepreneurs grow, and get them not only feedback on to be successful in their business pitch for the day of this event, but also for their business,” said Eric Bejarano, director of the SBDC at EAC.

A second workshop will take place July 10, at the same time and location.

The Moonshot pitches — similar to “Sharktank” where business owners explain to judges on what the funding will be used for if they win — will take place July 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at EAC. The winner will receive $2,500 for his or her business, with second receiving $1,500 and third $1,000.

The winner will also move on to compete at the statewide competition Aug. 2 in Cottonwood. There, the winner will walk away with $10,000.

There is no cost to participate. Register online at SBDC Graham/Greenlee Moonshot Workshops (arizonasbdc.com).
