First Things First Graham/Greenlee Region welcomes new regional council members

Graham/Greenlee (July 2024) — First Things Firstis pleased to welcome Sabrina Dumas and Cameron Mortensen as new members of the First Things First Graham/Greenlee Regional Partnership Council.

These members help define priorities for the local services and supports for young children and their families. By collaborating with other dedicated community members, regional council members provide opportunities for young children to get a strong start in life.

“It’s exciting to add the expertise and energy of these two new regional council members and I look forward to working with them and what they have to offer,” said FTF Graham/Greenlee Regional Director Shari Elkins.

Dumas will serve as one of two at-large representatives.  She is the Greenlee County librarian and the Library Director for the Clifton Public Library.

Dumas said she believes we all need to work together with shared accountability and high expectations for every child in our communities, regardless of background or circumstance.  She enjoys working with others to make a difference and make her community a better place.

Mortensen will also serve as one of the At large representatives.  He is an emergency room registered nurse at Mount Graham Regional Medical Center.

Mortensen and his wife Lauren are the parents to four children. He said he knows the influence and impact that early childhood has for every person.  He wants to make a difference in his community and hopes to be a part of influencing parents and families to help raise better supported, educated and nurtured children This can give the community hope for a better future.

“Each regional council member represents a different facet of expertise and passion,” said FTF’s Chief Regional Officer K Vilay. “They bring an understanding of how important early childhood is and why it’s important for their community. They’re the voice and reflection from each of their respective perspectives in their community.”
