SAFFORD — Working to provide scholarships to young women of the Gila Valley, being named the First Things First Champion for Graham and Greenlee counties, helping Southeastern Arizona Clean and Beautiful and the Gila Watershed Partnership in preserving the local ecology are just a few of the reasons Susan Elsberry was presented the Pride of Safford Award for November.
Elsberry served as the Woman’s Club president from 2018-2020, and assumed the role rent manager, making the clubhouse available to the community for various functions.
She also helped with the repairs to a building that houses AmeriCorps volunteers serving in the Gila Valley and serves on the Community Network Team, as well as help the Woman’s Club assist in a number of community projects, including:
● The Back to School Fair
● EAC’s STEAM and Health Fair
● The Safford City-Graham County Library events
“The only thing I have to say is volunteer,” Elsberry said at the awards presentation. “Find your passion and serve.”
