Duncan FD announces improved ISO rating

DUNCAN — Duncan Fire Department has improved its ISO rating, which could mean money savings for homeowners.

On Friday, the Duncan Valley Rural Fire District announced its Insurance Services Office rating from 6/6Y to 5/5Y, effective April 1.

An ISO rating help set homeowners’ insurance rates, with a lower rating generally lowering premiums.

ISO measures four areas: personnel, communications system, water supply and community risk reduction.

In a press release, Duncan Fire Chief Hayden Boyd said the increased ISO rating is primarily due to the Town of Duncan making upgrades to the town’s water system, including increased hydrant availability and increased water pressure; as well the department adding a new Engine Company.
