SAFFORD — There are just a few days left for middle- and high-schoolers to create art and possibly win $500.
To bring awareness to May being Mental Health Awareness Month, the Graham County Health Department, with support from Freeport-McMoRan, is hosting a student art contest.
“Elementary kiddos, we have a coloring page that they can color and turn in. For our older kids — middle school through high school — they can create their own art, original art,” said Jennifer Labrum, Mental Health coordinator for the Health Department.
Prizes for the older students are $500 for first, $250 for second and $100 for third.
All artwork must be original and on paper — not canvas — no larger than 8-inches by 11-inches. Any medium is acceptable except glitter and glue. Digital art will not be accepted.
The theme is “Mental Health Matters.”
Deadline to submit is 6 p.m. Thursday, May 30 and must be accompanied by a form that can be found on the Graham County Health Department’s Facebook page.
Submissions will be displayed on the Health Department’s website.
