SAFFORD — The Graham County Health Department is getting some help to fight the pandemic — and some long overdue compensation.

During Monday’s meeting, the Graham County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved consultation agreements with registered nurses Becky Dolan and Sara Sathyamoorthy to assist in vaccinations and testing, and Laura Hollowell to provide clerical support.

In addition, the board approved a resolution that will allow exempt staff of the Health Department to be compensated for working overtime.

“This is much needed,” said Supervisor John Howard, R-Dist. 2. “These folks (have) been working relentlessly for this county for the last year and no complaints. But we gratefully appreciate their work.

Salaried staff would be paid straight time for anything over 50 hours in a week, and the extra compensation cannot be more than for 30 hours in a pay period.
