A group of people in the area of Haekel Road Tanque Road were reportedly shot at by an unknown male on the morning of February 2, 2024. The group called authorities at approximately 9:00 am. The area was searched and patrolled by law enforcement ground and air units but the suspected gunman was not found at that time.
The reporting party said that his party was driving in the area in two separate vehicles. The group spotted a man in the area walking in circles, and back and forth in a strange manner as if he was high on drugs. The man then pulled out a gun and started waving it around. As the group drove past a man, he started yelling and cussing at them. The man allegedly pointed the gun at them and fired one round in their direction. The party quickly drove out of the area and called authorities.
Investigators found a single 40 caliber bullet casing in the area the group reported seeing the gunman, but the suspect and the van were not found. The investigation is ongoing.
