Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests lifts Stage 2 fire restrictions

CLIFTON — As a result of recent precipitation and cooler temperatures across the region, the Stage 2 Fire Restrictions that went into effect on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests on June 20 have been rescinded and there are no fire restrictions at this time.

The shift in weather conditions have combined to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires. Although reduced, wildfire risk remains. Visitors are encouraged to avoid building campfires if weather conditions are dry, hot, or windy.

It is illegal to leave a campfire unattended. If a campfire has been built, be sure to drown, stir, and feel the ash to be sure all heat sources have been extinguished. For tips on how to properly extinguish a campfire visit the Fire Prevention page on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests website.

The Coronado National Forest, which includes Mount Graham, is also not under any fire restrictions at this time.

Fireworks, explosives, and incendiary devices are always prohibited on all National Forest System lands.
