SAFFORD — American Legion Swift-Murphy Post 32, the Sons of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary are teaming for a special Independence Day celebration.

The Sons of the American Legion will host the annual Moe Villalba Sr. Fishing Derby in the duck ponds at Graham County Fairgrounds on Thursday, from 6-11 a.m.

The event is free to all children and there are plenty of prizes across all age categories. Plus the kids will receive free hot dogs, watermelon and snow cones.

Starting at noon, the American Legion post in Safford’s Firth Park will open to the public for a celebration of the post’s 100th anniversary.

The Legion, Sons of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary will provide hot dogs, hamburgers and watermelon free to everyone.
