Burglary tools found, suspect at large

SAFFORD — A sharp-eyed neighbor stopped a potential burglary.

The resident spotted a man in a black jacket and orange beanie standing in front of a residence on 10th Avenue. When spotted, the man took off running.

Safford Police officers spotted the suspect a short time later, running into an alley in the area of 12th Avenue and 20th Street. The suspect was able the evade capture by jumping fences, but he was forced to abandon his backpack.

Officers found bolt cutters, a drill, dremels, wire cutters, gloves and flashflight in the pack.

The search continues for the suspect and the items were placed in found property.
