THATCHER – A woman of many talents, Deanna Cluff has been with the Little Art Gallery from the start, and Friday her work as an artist was celebrated.

Brooke Curley Photo/Gila Valley Central: An original piece by Cluff, this painting of a girl in the water was especially difficult to capture. Cluff said she eventually had to travel to the ocean and take multiple photos to complete it.

Currently living in Central, Cluff was Born in Wisconsin and later attended Arizona State University. A woman of many professions, Cluff has been a civil engineering drafter, artist and designer, professional potter, kidney dialysis technician and, most recently, a worker in the Eastern Arizona College’s financial aid office.  She also completed her masters in Fine Arts in Figurative Painting through the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Calif.

Although Cluff has had many occupations in order to survive in the world, she told Gila Valley Central that she wished she had not given up on her dreams of being an artist earlier in life.

“All my life, ever since I was a little girl, all I’ve ever wanted to be was an artist, and I’ve never gotten to really do that,” Cluff said. “I kind of gave up on my dreams just to survive, and now I have friends around me that have given all of that up and they’re broke but they’re happy. And I wish I would have done that. And my advice would be to never, ever, ever give up on your dreams.”

Cluff is a board member of the Art Guild of Eastern Arizona and loves to feature animals in many of her art pieces. She is fascinated by capturing the animal and human interaction in her artworks.
