Woman Killed in Rollover Accident on Montierth Lane

On Sunday, September 1, 2019 at approximately 3:12 p.m. the Graham County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a rollover accident involving a Jeep at the 2400 block of South Montierth Lane. When law enforcement arrived, they found a Jeep upside down on S. Montierth Lane in the southbound lane and a female in the roadway approximately 20 to 30 feet southwest of the Jeep. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s office, this was a single vehicle accident and Abbott was the lone occupant.

The woman, later identified as 50-year-old Becky Abbott of Safford, was breathing but had a severe head injury. Medical personnel arrived and an Air Ambulance was dispatched. Abbott’s medical situation could not be stabilized and she was taken to Mount Graham Medical Center where she was later pronounced deceased.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is on-going. The Department of Public Safety assisted by diagramming the accident.
