Woman Arrested for Assault and Disorderly Conduct

Safford Police Officers were dispatched to the Budget Inn on Highway 70 at around 2:26am last Saturday morning in reference to a disorderly woman in room 12.

When the Officers arrived, they spoke with the front desk clerk who stated that a man had asked him to call police to his room. As the officers approached the room, a woman began cursing at them. She reportedly appeared to be highly intoxicated.

As the officers looked into the situation they surmised that the couple in the room had some trust issues with each other and the woman was making disparaging comments about the man. The officers could see that the man’s mouth was bleeding and his shirt had been torn. The woman had also broken the TV in the room in an apparent fit of rage.

The woman was handcuffed and taken into custody. She refused to get in the back seat of a patrol vehicle and had to be placed there by the officers. She tried to kick two of the officers and was spitting at them as well. She was transported to Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center to determine if she was sober enough to go to jail.

When they arrived at the hospital, the woman refused to get out of the patrol vehicle and had to be physically removed. A bed sheet was placed over head to prevent her from spitting on anyone. Due to her behavior she had to be strapped down and restrained in a hospital bed.

The woman was medically cleared and was taken to the Graham County Detention Facility and booked. At the jail she had to be placed in a restraint chair and was booked for Disorderly Conduct, Assault, Domestic Violence, and Criminal Damage.
