Thatcher vs Show Low
The Show Low Cougars had trouble stopping the run in their first two games. That trend continued against Thatcher Friday night as the Eagles amassed 415 yards of offense in a 60-6 route of the Cougars. The win moves Thatcher to 3-0 ahead of their big game with Safford this week.
The Eagles intercepted Cougar QB Collin McGinnis 3 times on the night. Cole Motes returned one of those picks for a 30 yard TD.
Safford vs Wickenburg
This was an good ole’ fashion shootout. Neither defense was able to keep up with the offense in a 48-47 Wrangler win in overtime. The teams entered OT tied at 41. Wickenburg scored on their possession, forcing the Bulldogs to keep up. Safford punched in a score and decided to go for the two point conversion and the win, it came up short and Wickenburg escaped with the W. Safford is 0-2 coming into the Rivalry Game with Thatcher this week.
Safford’s offense showed signs of life after a slow start to the season at Snowflake.
