Thatcher PD awarded grant for patrol vehicle

The Thatcher Police Department has been awarded a grant from the Arizona Governor’s Office of High Safety in the amount of $50,269.00. The funds will be used to purchase and equip a police patrol vehicle.

The vehicle will be used for DUI and traffic enforcement operations with the Eastern Arizona DUI Task Force, and the Thatcher Police Department. It will also be used in demonstrations to provide public education and to further the departments efforts to reduce impaired driving and other traffic-related collisions.

In a press release, Thatcher Chief of Police, Shaffen Woods said, “We would like to thank the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for their commitment to keeping our streets and highways safe. We value our partnership with them and look forward to continuing to do our part to promote traffic safety and to reduce the amount of impaired drivers on our roadways.”
